Mar 1, 2026

Starting this spring (2026), the reconstruction work on Princess Street from Division to Albert Street along with Garret Street will begin. The contract has been awarded and we are awaiting timelines for the phasing the the first phase of the reconstruction project.

This will include a much needed upgrade to the utilities including separating and replacing the combined sewers, and installing and replacing watermains, and upgrading Kingston Hydro infrastructure.

Some of the key feature upgrades for Princess Street include

  • Dedicated cycle tracks on both sides of Princess Street
  • Accessible road crossings
  • Improved transit infrastructure
  • Reconstruction of the curbs and sidewalks
  • Road repaving
  • The addition of street trees, planter boxes and furniture

This work will also include the construction of the Frontenac Street Parkette.

Parking for the side streets will be reviewed to support the parking needs of the businesses and services on Princess street along with strategically positioning loading zones.
